The San Fernando High School Math/ Science/ Technology Magnet has been preparing students for careers which require a strong background in mathematics and science since 1980's. As a family-like smaller learning community of dedicated educators, we have succeeded in establishing a safe and comfortable learning environment where students can engage in rigorous coursework.

As a result, our students become:
  • Critical thinkers
  • Effective communicators
  • Responsible students
  • Responsible citizen
  • Involved in extra-curricular activities
  • Enrolled in a Math and Science class all 4 years of High School
  • By graduation Volunteer for the surrounding community for at leas 50 hours.
Evidence that our classes are rigorous and engaging is the fact that students are well prepared to take Advanced Placement classes and college courses. Regular communication between teachers, parents, and staff is what enables our students to succeed in such courses. Our Magnet Student Group (MSG), along with the staff, instill a sense of pride and ownership in the school community.

Magnet students receive personalized attention that keeps them on track and sufficiently focused to complete their high school education and helps them develop their plans for the future. The knowledge that students acquire and the friends that students make last a lifetime. The impact the Magnet program has is evident through our alumnus’s contribution and loyalty to our program and community; hence our motto, “Once a Tiger Always a Tiger!”
