History of San Fernando High School
San Fernando High School was established in 1896.
It is one of the oldest high schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
SFHS was originally located on Fifth and Hager Streets in the City of San Fernando.
In 1906, the school site was changed to the campus on North Brand Blvd., presently the site of San Fernando Middle School. The high school opened at its present site in 1952.

- 1973 soccer team champions. The LAUSD offered soccer as an official LAUSD sport. We won the first ever championship against Franklin High, 2 to 1.

- 2009, San Fernando’s Academic Decathlon team participated in the annual citywide competition on February 7. The team placed 23rd overall out of 64 teams competing. They achieved 8th place in the Super Quiz Relay and had 8 of its team members ranked in the top 100 competitors. The team also won Conference Awards when it placed 4th overall out of 10 teams competing and 2nd in music, 3rd in art, 3rd in economics, and 3rd in social science.
